Safe House 2 is a StarCraft 2 e-sports tournament with a main event hosted over two days, October 18 and 19. Two qualifiers will also be streamed leading up to the event. The focus is on grassroots, community-involved e-sports, where fun and community interaction are equally important to the competition.
Talent and production will be on-site in Las Vegas, using the proximity to create fun goals for the community to fund. Players will compete online. Future iterations of the tournament will include an audience and players on-site in a venue.
The community for StarCraft 2 e-sports is hungrier for grassroots content due to the reduction of large tournaments and circuits. This allows for sponsors to work within a smaller, non-bloated budget, and to connect with the viewers on a more personal level. StarCraft 2's audience is older (25-44 years old), more amenable to directly supporting their interest with money, and are looking to show their support of any sponsors interested in the StarCraft scene.
Additionally, Safe House 2's setup allows for more viewer-broadcast interaction than many other e-sports productions. Content is produced with the goal of getting viewers to interact with stream, and thus, any companies sponsoring the stream.
My name is Jessica Chernega and I go by my online handle "ZombieGrub" in the e-sports communities. I've worked in e-sports since 2011, first building a successful co-owned Twitch stream named "BaseTradeTV" and eventually building my own solo brand, starting in 2018. I've helped produce events across those years and started to create my own events in 2024.
Most people know me as an on-air talent for StarCraft 2 e-sports broadcasts, where I've done hosting, play-by-play, and analysis.
